CAS(E) This Sketch #391

Hey Everyone

I’ve been gettin snapchats all morning from my family, who only live an hour away from me, of snow falling.  While I’m sitting here in a t-shirt…… I’m so jealous as we don’t get snow here in the city I live in…. So instead of feeling sorry for myself, I went out to my craft room and made a card for this weeks sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch.

I decided to start my card with the designer series paper that reminded me of snow falling and my card went from there.  The DSP I’ve used is from a pack called Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper. I stamped two bow images from the Gift Wrapped Stamp Set and coloured them with a combination of Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Blends.  The leaves I’ve added to my card have been cut with the Forever Flourishing Dies – there are two of them on this card.

Once I layered everything around the sentiment (also from the Gift Wrapped Stamp Set) I decided to stamp two little tags also from the same set  I coloured one with the Dark Pool Party Blend and the other was stamped with the holly image in the set. These were then fussy cut and layered next to the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #454

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch this week has been designed by the wonderfully talented Jacquie Southas.

I’m currently on annual leave and spent pretty much all of Monday chatting to friends around the world. When I said I needed to create a card with a centre panel, my fabulously talented NZer friend Paula Dobson gave me the idea to create an ombre effect panel. I’m not much of a technique cardmaker, but I decided to give it a go.  I took my dauber and some Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Inks and went to town with daubing. It’s amazing what you can do when you have extra time to play.

The Snow Wonder Stamp Set had yet to see ink, until this card.  I love this snowman because of the vintage feel of the images. My snowman was given a bit of colour with my Smoky Slate Blends and the hat and scarf with Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Blends.  The trees were then stamped in Bermuda Bay Ink. Once I cut them out with the matching Snow Time Dies I then added a quick shadow with my Dark Smoky Slate to the layers on the trees to create depth.

The sentiment I’ve added is also from the Snow Wonder Stamp Set. This was stamped in Black Memento Ink and trimmed to fit the card.  Three Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems were added because you can’t have an even number of them on your card. I matted my panel with some Bermuda Bay Cardstock on an angle as I felt the white on white cardstock was a bit lacking.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have designed fabulous cards using the sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop – Poinsettia Place Suite

Hey Everyone

Welcome to the latest Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop.  This month we are showcasing projects we’ve made with products from the Poinsettia Place Suite.

All of the products in this suite are AMAZING! I’ve been making a heap of cards with the Poinsettia Place Stamp Set, so this time I wanted to show off the pretty and perfectly coloured poinsettias that you can trim from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper pack.  I also trimmed the leafy stem and pine cones images from the DSP and adhered them to my card.  The large leaves that I’ve paired with my poinsettia are stamped with the leaf images from the Poinsettia Place Stamp Set. They’ve been coloured with my Mint Macaron Blends.

I cut the card base with a Rectangle Stitched Die and daubed Sahara Sand Ink on the Thick Whisper White Cardstock. To add some texture, I ran this piece through my embossing machine with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. I then added a combination of papers from the Poinsettia Place DSP pack. Once I was happy with the layering of my poinsettias and sentiment, I then took my favourite Braided Linen Thread and layered it amongst the flower and leaves. Three Gold Glitter Enamel Dots finished off this card.

Like my first card, my poinsettias are trimmed from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper and the leaves are stamped from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set.  For this card, I added some stamped holly berries that have been cut with the Poinsettia Dies.

The DSP I’ve added to the base of my card is also from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper pack. I took a piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock and daubed the edges before using my fingernail to rough up the cardstock.  One Gold Enamel Glimmer Dot was added to this card.

For my third card, I created my own poinsettia’s by cutting some poinsettia die cuts with the Poinsettia Dies. I took my Water Painter and some Sahara Sand Ink and added colour to the die cuts, adding a darker shade to the centre of the flowers.  I couldn’t resist adhering Beaded Pearls to the centre of the die cuts to make them pretty and bling-y. I kept my layering simple with this card to let the poinsettias shine.

I hope you like the projects I’ve created with these products. Make sure you check out all the wonderful projects the team have created. The next hop along the way is my very talented friend Nina Waldschmidt with her creations. Click here to take you to her blog or on the button below.

Freshly Made Sketches #453

Hey Everyone

I’m a little late posting this! There’s a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch hostess is the fabulously talented Judy Rozema.

Stampin’ Up!s In The Pines Bundle got some ink this week.  The large trees I’ve used on the In The Pines Stamp Set have been stamped in Black Memento Ink and the centre has been stamped with Bermuda Bay and Pool Party Inks.  The little trees were coloured with Pool Party Ink and cut with the Pine Wood Dies.

The Pine Wood Dies from the bundle created the background curve to my stitched circle die cut. I then added three little gems because I’m a bling-y girl.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have made awesome cards with the sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Global Design Project #254

Hey Everyone

The card I’m sharing today is for the challenge at the Global Design Project.  This week their challenge is a sketch challenge.

I’m on a Christmas card making roll.  It’s easy to do when I’ve got so many sets that I love creating with.  The stamp set I’ve used is called Poinsettia Petals.  I originally had the large poinsettia’s all coloured up ready to use, but when I placed them on my card, I felt they were a little bit too big.  So I stamped up four of the little ones and coloured them with a combination of Petal Pink and Calypso Coral Blends. The centre of them were coloured the the Dark Mango Melody Blend. I fussy cut them out and layered them with two images each stacked on each other.

The leaves for these poinsettia’s were cut with the Forever Flourishing Dies that I had discarded from another project and were siting on my desk.  I also had the Soft Suede Ink berries discarded from yet another project that I added to the card.  Love it when I can use up images and die cuts rather than bin them.

The background of my card has been daubed with Sahara Sand Ink and over this, I stamped the ink splatters image in Soft Suede Ink from the Forever Fern Stamp Set. I added a strip of DSP from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper and added a sentiment from the Joy Dies and Peace & Joy Stamp Set.

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop – Peace and Joy Bundle

Hey Everyone

Hello stamping friends. It’s time for the latest Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop!

This month the team have created  projects using products from the Peace and Joy Bundle. This bundle is available to order form the August-December 2020 Mini Catalogue.  Having these products early means that hopefully I will be ready with all of my Christmas cards and gift packaging.

We have all created three projects using this fabulous bundle. For each of our projects, we have created the following:

  • One sample using the Peace and Joy Stamp set only.
  • The second project using dies only from the Joy Dies.
  • And the third with both the stamp set and the dies.

To create my first card, I stamped various leaves from the Peace and Joy Stamp Set in Soft Sea Foam and Just Jade Inks. To create the washed background, I took my Light Soft Sea Foam Blend and coloured some Whisper White Cardstock. As you can see, I cut this piece around a third of the way down and added a piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock and torn Midnight Muse Cardstock underneath it.

I’ve used a combination of sentiments from the Peace and Joy Stamp Set.  I really love this combo of a large script-y sentiment and a solid background with white typed sentiment. I added some Braided Linen Trim and layered my circles over the top.  I then took the fussy cut leaves, berries and adhered them around the main sentiment.  Three white gems from the Flowers for Every Season Gems finished off this card.

The second project I’ve made is a shaker card using the Joy Dies. I started off with cutting a square piece of Whisper White Cardstock and a solid sentiment die. By using the solid sentiment for the shaker window, this then allowed me to cut the thin sentiment in Midnight Muse Cardstock to layer over my window sheet. I’ve probably thrown in way too many sequins, from the Sequins for Everything pack, behind the sentiment. I always either have too many sequins and then the next time, not enough….

To pair with my first card, I added a washed background with the Light Soft Sea Foam Blend and added a torn strip of Just Jade Cardstock. I also used three gems from the Flowers For Every Season Gems to bling up my card.

For my third and final project, I added texture and interest to the background by cutting multiple sentiments in Whisper White Cardstock and adhering them to the card base. I cut two circles, one in Midnight Muse Cardstock and the other in Whisper White Cardstock, with the 2 1/4″ Circle Punch. Keeping off-cut strips of cardstock is so handy when you need to tie in colours to maintain a consistency with your projects. I’ve added a Just Jade Cardstock strip to this card.

Because I LOVE Braided Linen Trim as if it were one of my own children, I couldn’t resist adding it to this card too. For the sentiment, I used the solid and thin sentiments dies for this card. I also added a stamped sentiment because I liked the solid typed font.  I then repeated the stamping I did for my first card with the same leaves and colours. This time only one gem was added – didn’t want to overpower the stamping with too much bling!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the cards I’ve made using the Peace and Joy Bundle. I loved playing with these fabulous products, not only because they’re gorgeous, but it’s given me more cards that I’ve added to my Christmas card stash.

Just Add Ink #519

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge is for you to:

I went with a clean, quick and easy Christmas card with these colours.  My images and sentiment are from the Tag Buffet Stamp Set. I coloured the baubles and the stocking with Purple Posy and Misty Moonlight. I gave the leaves a very light colour with Seaside Spray Ink and fussy cut them out. I then daubed the card base with Seaside Spray Ink and layered my images.  The sentiment I’ve added to my card is also from the Tag Buffet Stamp Set. I trimmed around this sentiment and cut it  in half to place next to the my images.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards using the colours. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

The Card Concept #36

Hey Everyone

I really love challenges as they make me try different colour combos that I would never usually try.  Take a look at the fab inspiration pic we have for you at The Card Concept.

CC36pic

I tried a new-to-me technique – the emboss resist technique.  I heat embossed Stampin’ Up!s En Francais with Clear Embossing Powder.  I then sponged Slate Gray and Morning Meadow ink in patches and then wiped away the excess with a paper towel.  I then set about fussy cutting (gee did they take time!) the fern fronds and flower from Butterfly Basics.  Here’s my card:

We’d love for you to join us with our challenge. Head over to The Card Concept and link up a card. While you’re there, take a look at the wonderful inspiration from the design team.

Merry Monday Challenge #67

Hey Everyone

Lesley keeps coming up with the most amazing sketches for us to create our cards. Take a look at this fabulous sketch for this weeks Merry Monday Challenge:

MMC67sketch

I’ve gone with a monochromatic card using one of my favourite Christmas Stampin’ Up! stamp sets – Dasher.  He’s one retired stamp set that I don’t think I’ll be parting with in the near future.  The designer series paper I’ve used is from a retired Stampin’ Up! pack called Candlelight Christmas Specialty DSP.
