Global Design Project #316

Hey Everyone

A weekend at home and I was finally able to catch up with some crafting and even managed to create a card for the latest challenge at Global Design Project.

This weeks challenge is to CASE the Designer, the super talented Stesha Bloodhart! Stesha makes divine cards and as you can see below, the card we are CASEing is really divine.

I don’t mind a bit of roughed up edges for my cards. It creates a bit of a vintage look that I love.

I roughed up the edges of both the Basic White Cardstock and DSP from the Penguin Playmates DSP. I then had to hand cut the circle as I have no idea where my circles dies have hidden themselves – the roughed up edges hide the fact that it’s not a perfect circle. To create a somewhat snowy background, I flicked the Dark Soft Suede Blend on to the cardstock and used a Blending Brush to add to some shading about the cardstock.

I took some Kraft Cardstock and cut two trees with the Majestic Mountain Dies. These dies are my go-to when I want trees for Christmas cards. I then stamped the snowman from the Snow Wonder Stamp Set. I gave the snowman colour with my Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Fresh Freesia Blends.

The sentiment I’ve fussy cut is from the Snow Wonder Stamp Set. This sentiment is one stamp, but I’ve cut it in to two sentiments so that I could layer them separately – I think it creates balance to my layers.

The final thing I added was a Gold Ribbon and Linen Thread detail.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #505

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. This week was my turn to design the sketch. I’ve resorted to circle as they’re my fav for a card.

I haven’t used this little snowman image from the Snow Wonder Stamp Set. This set comes with this gorgeous little tree too. The tree stamp is actually a lot smaller than the snowman, so I’ve stamped and coloured it twice and layered them together – the join is hidden with the sentiment.

The snowman has been coloured with the Smoky Slate Blends and the Bermuda Bay Blends. The tree was then coloured with the Bermuda Bay Blends to tie the images together.

I added one DSP circle die cut and one Basic White circle die cut. The DSP is from the Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. I had an off-cut piece of Metallic Mesh Ribbon sitting on my desk, so I added this under a torn piece of Smoky Slate Cardstock and sentiment.

The Basic White Cardstock that I’ve used in the background has been embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.

The girls at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards with the sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #533

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

The card I’m sharing has been created with a stamp set starting with the letter S – it’s called Snow Wonder. This set has wonderful vintage-y artwork that I adore. The snowman I’ve used as a focal point on my card has been given some colour with my Smoky Slate and Highland Heather Blends. The trees that I’ve added behind him are also from the Snow Wonder Stamp Set. These trees have been stamped on Whisper White Cardstock with Garden Green Ink. The sentiment that I have used is also from the Snow Wonder Stamp Set – this sentiment has been stamped in Black Memento Ink.

The Whisper White Cardstock in the background has been coloured with my Light Soft Sea Foam Blend to create a waterwashed effect. This has been layered over a piece of DSP from the Classic Christmas Designer Series Paper pack.

I added a Crumb Cake diecut and a special delivery image that I had lying on my desk. The image is from the Posted For You Stamp Set and the diecut is cut with my Snow Time Dies.

To finish off my card, I added three Metallic Pearls and some Gold Twine.

The thing I love about these challenges, is seeing how everyone’s take on these challenges, is so very different. To see what the team have created, pop over to Just Add Ink and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #454

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch this week has been designed by the wonderfully talented Jacquie Southas.

I’m currently on annual leave and spent pretty much all of Monday chatting to friends around the world. When I said I needed to create a card with a centre panel, my fabulously talented NZer friend Paula Dobson gave me the idea to create an ombre effect panel. I’m not much of a technique cardmaker, but I decided to give it a go.  I took my dauber and some Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Inks and went to town with daubing. It’s amazing what you can do when you have extra time to play.

The Snow Wonder Stamp Set had yet to see ink, until this card.  I love this snowman because of the vintage feel of the images. My snowman was given a bit of colour with my Smoky Slate Blends and the hat and scarf with Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Blends.  The trees were then stamped in Bermuda Bay Ink. Once I cut them out with the matching Snow Time Dies I then added a quick shadow with my Dark Smoky Slate to the layers on the trees to create depth.

The sentiment I’ve added is also from the Snow Wonder Stamp Set. This was stamped in Black Memento Ink and trimmed to fit the card.  Three Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems were added because you can’t have an even number of them on your card. I matted my panel with some Bermuda Bay Cardstock on an angle as I felt the white on white cardstock was a bit lacking.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have designed fabulous cards using the sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers
