Just Add Ink #687

Hey Everyone

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is a sketch challenge. Take a look at the fab sketch we have for you to play along with:

I’ve created a grungy leafy card made with the Noters of Nature Stamp Set and Notes of Nature Dies. I love the combination of background stamps and leaves this set has. I’ve added in some die cut leaves made with the Notes of Nature Dies to the side of the sketch as well as a sentiment and twine. The strip of DSP I took inspiration from for the colour scheme on my card is called Softly Stippled Designer Series Paper.

The team have created awesome cards with this sketch, make sure you head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Our challenge for you is to:

This challenge is right up my alley. Just Add Flowers? Yes pls!

I sat down at my desk and took out the Stippled Rose Stamp Set. I am loving the artwork in these roses and gave them colour with my Fresh Freesia Blends. The leaves were coloured with a combination of Mint Macaron Blends and a green Watercolor Pencil – I forgot what colour it is though…

I embossed three squares of Basic White Cardstock with a Basics 3D Embossing Folder and added a strip of ribbon to the one on the top right.

The next hop along the way is my very crafty friend Ann Alexander. Click here or on the badge below to take you to her blog and to continue the hop.

Freshly Made Sketches #619

Hey Everyone

Ready for a new sketch to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches? This week our sketch hostess is the uber talented Judy Rozema. Make sure you head over to her blog and check out her gorgeous creations.

I’m actually glad to get back to my floral creations. I love doing Christmas, but flowers are really my thing!

The stamp set I’ve used for my card is called Stippled Rose Stamp Set. I took out my Wild Wheat Blends for these blooms. To create shadows and definition, I added touches of Smoky Slate. The leaves have been given colour with my Old Olive Blends. All of the images were fussy cut out. I do have dies to cut out these flowers, but I like a really fine edge out the images.

I added a strip of Vellum Basics Specialty Designer Series Paper to a strip of Wile Wheat Cardstock and strategically place the flowers and leaves to hide the glue that I stuck them together with. I added texture to the background with a Basics 3D Embossing Folder and a strip of Gold Faux Leather Trim – just coz I could!

The team have created wonderful projects to inspire you, so make sure you head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they have created.

Just Add Ink #682

Hey Everyone

Welcome to Friday and the newest challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is a sketch challenge. Take a look at our fab sketch for you to craft along with.

Stripped Rose Stamp Set? Yes pls! I love me a floral stamp set as much as i love colouring them!

I’ve combined this tamp set with the Notes of Nature Stamp Set that I added to the background. It’s a real vintage vibe stamp set, so I went the whole vintage thing for my card.I added diecut strips – one from the Notes of Nature Dies and one from the Gorgeously Made Dies that I had sitting on my desk.

Freshly Made Sketches #614

Hey Everyone

Welcome to our newest sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch hostess is our fabulous friend and even more fabulous walker Jennifer Brum. Take a look at her really cool sketch filled with circles!

I saw this sketch and thought who is this Jen and what has overcome her with sooooo many circles? She originally started off as not a fan of circle and this sketch doesn’t have a few circles, it has 100 circles!

I decided to replicate the background (sort of) by taking some circle dies and tracing around the centre of them, They felt a little clean, so I took a Watercolor Pencil and added shading to each of them,

I then stamped up some butterflies from the Night of Flight Stamp Set. These butterflies were coloured with all of my yellow blends an fussy cut out. I then stamped up some leaves from the Gorgeously Made Stamp Set and they were also fussy cut out.

The background got a little ink flicked over the circles and some strips of cardstock were added under the sentiment.

The design team have created awesome cards with her sketch. Make sure you head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #680

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday so that means we have a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink. Our challenge for you is to:

When I saw this challenge, I almost pulled out as I don’t have any stamp set or die set that relates to alcohol…. Then I got over myself and thought a bit more creatively and came up with alcohol markers! I have heaps of those!

My background has been created using my Stamping’ Up! Blends, isopropyl alcohol surface cleaner and Vellum Cardstock. I took my Vellum Cardstock, Flirty Flamingo and Berry Burst Blends and added droplets of the isopropyl alcohol to the ink. I moved the ink around with a brush and the background below is the outcome. First time doing this and I really love the effect.

The rose and leaves images I added to the card are from the January-April 2024 Mini Catalogue. This gorgeous stamp set is called the Stippled Rose Stamp Set. I received it recently as a preorder and as you can image, they were one of the first sets I had to have from the new catalogue.

The team have created wonderful projects for this challenge. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #678

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge over at Just Add Ink for you. This week our challenge for you is to:

I went an unusual colour combination for leaves for my card to fit the challenge brief. The leaves and branches I’ve added to my card are from the Autumn Leaves dies. I watercoloured Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper with ink and once it was dried, I cut the leaves with the dies. They felt a little bland, so I then flicked Dark Smoky Slate Blend to give them more detail.

The background cardstock was given detail with a Blending Brush, Ink and a mask from the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks.

I then added a hand cut sentiment and some gold twine to the layers.

The Just Add Ink Design Team have created wonderful cards for this challenge. Make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #610

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch challenge to play along with over at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch hostess is the wonderfully super talented Jennifer Timko.

I am loving a leaf or two at the moment. The leaves I added to my card have been created with Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and the following ink colours: Cajun Craze, Granny Apple Green and Crushed Curry. I added these colours to the paper in random places, waited for the paper to dry and then diecut the leaves out with the Autumn Leaves Dies.

There’s a die in this set that creates tiny dotted strips. I diecut the background cardstock three times with this die to emulate the strips in the sketch. I then set about shading and ink flicking the background. Once I was happy with the background, I placed the leaves on Dimensionals and added some diecut branches.

The sentiment I have used is from the matching stamp set to the dies. It’s called Autumn Leaves Stamp Set. These sentiments are all seperate but I liked them grouped together to say everything I want to say to a friend.

Finally, i added some ribbon from the Copper and Natural Ribbon Combo Pack. I’ve used the copper ribbon and kind of looped it around so it’s not really in a bow. It’s probs a little hard to see as it blends with the leaves.

The team have created awesome cards that will no doubt inspire you. Make sure you head to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #674

Hey Everyone

Our latest challenge at Just Add Ink, is for you to create a project using the following colours:

I didn’t know how much I would love this colour combo until i started creating my card. Usually when I have 4 colours that I don’t know how to combine, i keep a mostly white card and add touches of the colours. But this time, I found it really easy to layer/combine these colours.

I think the Night of Flight Stamp Set and the Gorgeously Made Stamp Set/Dies were made for each other. I stamped my butterflies with Black Memento Ink and coloured the butterflies with a combination of Fresh Freesia, Berry Burst and Pretty Peacock Blends. I then took the retired White Gel Pen and added highlights on my butterflies. They were then fussy cut out.

I took a piece of Basic White Cardstock and diecut the edge of it with the book edge die. To this piece, I then placed it on my trimmer and scored lines into the cardstock. I then took the Light Basic Blend and flicked ink on to it from the Light Basic Black Blend.

I embossed the Pretty Peacock Cardstock to add more texture and roughed up all the edges of each piece of cardstock to give a vintage-y feel.

To add gold to my card, I took a leafy die from the Gorgeously Made Dies and cut two of them. To create length to my gold foil leaf, I cut two of them and joined them together. The join of them has been hidden by the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by.
