Freshly Made Sketches #562

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches to play along with. Our sketch hostess this week is the wonderfully talented Kim Singdahlsen.

Take a look at her fab sketch:

I completely messed up this week and created a card for next week instead! I had to scramble and create a last minute card for the correct sketch. But it means I’m ahead for next week with my card already made!

The stamp set I chose to ink up for my card was the Sending Smiles Stamp Set. I also used dies from the Sending Dies. My flowers have been inked up in Pool Party, Highland Heather and Crushed Curry Inks. The leaves have been stamped with Granny Apple Green Ink. All images have been fussy cut out and raised up with Dimensionals.

The Basic White Cardstock that my images were adhered to was flicked with Pool Party Ink from the Dark Pool Party Blend. I also shaded part of the card under the flowers to soften the white cardstock.

I cut out the die cut sentiment and layered it over the stamped sentiment. Both of these are placed over a piece of Basic White and Pool Party Cardstock diecuts – also cut with the Sending Dies.

Three Basic Rhinestones and a Brushed Brass Butterfly was added for the bling-y feel I like to add to my cards.

As always, the team have created awesome cards that will no doubt inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #368

Hey Everyone

Had a bit of time today to play along with the latest challenge at Global Design Project. This week the challenge is a CASE challenge. The team are CASEing this gorgeous card below from the super talented Stesha Bloodhart.

I kept my card fairly neutral toned like Stesha’s and added pops of colours with the Cajun Craze ink I added to the Sunflowers. These sunflowers and leaves are from the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set. I have more need for a birthday card so I added a sentiment from the You’re a Peach Stamp Set instead of one of the sentiments in the sunflowers set.

I added pieces of DSP from the Abigail Rose DSP pack. I roughed up the edges of both pieces of paper and used a dauber to add some Crumb Cake Ink also.

To add extra layers, I cut a square of Basic White Cardstock and some banner die cuts with the Stylish Shapes Dies. These die cuts were placed under the flowers and a Linen Thread bow was added.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #629

Hey Everyone

It’s new challenge time at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

One of my fav “winged” stamp sets is a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Free As A Bird. These birds are perfect for colouring and I really love the artwork in them.

I’ve paired my birds with flowery and leafy images from the Blessings of Home Stamp Set. I lightly coloured the flowers and leaves so that the birds stood out against the foliage. The sentiment was one I had stamped and lay discarded on my desk. I have forgotten what set it was from at the time of typing this… The DSP I’ve used is also retired, it’s called Heart & Home DSP. I matted this with Pool Party Cardstock and layered it on a Basic White card base.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful projects. Make sure you head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #561

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by our wonderfully creative team member, Linda Callahan!

Take a look at her fab sketch:

The card I created features striped DSP from the Perfectly Penciled DSP pack. I always love a black and white striped DSP. Any colour that you add to it just pops!

The images I’ve added to my are from the Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set. The leaves have been coloured with my Smoky Slate Blends. The leafy stems have been coloured with the Highland Heather Blends. I always take a Color Lifter to take away some of the colour to create a lighter shade as I get more definition between the light and dark blends. All images were fussy cut out and layered over rectangles of Basic White Cardstock shaded with the Light Pool Party Blend.

Three Matte Dots were added in an off centre triangle. The sentiment diecut I have used was cut with the Sending Dies and I’ve heat embossed a sentiment from the matching Sending Smiles Stamp Set on Basic Black Cardstock.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome projects that will no doubt inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Global Design Project #367

Hey Everyone

I’ve joined in with the tree challenge at Global Design Project today. I love tree challenges as much as I love flower challenges!

The card I created is for my nephew and his partners’ baby shower. I created a neutral coloured card as we’re not sure if they’ve having a boy or a girl.

When I think of baby cards, I reach for my fav stamp set with the cutest images for a baby – it’s a retired set called Fable Friends.

I coloured the images up with Smoky Slate and Parakeet Party Blends. The images were fussy cut out and layered with trees cut with dies from the Majestic Mountain Dies. I added some strips of Parakeet Party and Basic Gray Cardstock to a piece of DSP from the Abigail Rose DSP. I then added a die cut circle of DSP, also from the Abigail Rose DSP.

Around these layers, I tied a bow of White Crinkled Seam Binding and added three Classic Matte Dots.

Just Add Ink #627

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

I chose night and silhouette for my card.

To create the background of my card I took a Blending Brush and the following ink colours:

  • – Tahitian Tide
  • Orchid Oasis
  • Starry Sky

After my background was blended, I took the White Craft Stampin’ Ink Refill bottle and added some ink to a block. I then took my Water Painter and flicked some ink onto the blended background. This created a starry background on the night scene.

The lighthouse I added to the card was cut with the Lighthouse Dies. The clouds were then cut from clouds dies in the Lighthouse Dies set. To create a more realistic scene, I added some trees cut with the Majestic Mountain Dies. Each of trees were daubed around the edges with Basic Gray Ink.

Some Linen Thread and a sentiment finished off the card.

The team at Just Add Ink have created awesome cards. Make sure you head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #559

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch hostess is the wonderfully creative Jennifer Timko. Make sure you head over to her blog and see all the gorgeousness she creates.

The card I created features a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set that I will never part with. It’s called Dressed To Impress. I adore all of the images in this set. I coloured up the perfume bottle, lipstick and flowers with a combination of blends and fussy cut them out.

The background cardstock has been embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder and layered over a piece of Basic Cardstock. These layers have been adhered to a Pool Party card base.

A circle die cut, cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies, was added and all of my images and Silver Foil leaves were adhered down once I was happy with the placement of them.

The Freshly Made Sketches team have created awesome cards with the sketch. Head over to the challenge to see what they’ve created.

Scrabble Jingle Jingle Jingle

Hey Everyone

I created a card not long ago with the Jingle Jingle Jing Stamp Set. For some reason I had stamped up a whole heap of extra sentiments. I was determined to use them, so after a bit of thought, I decided to create a scrabble type card that used up a lot of them.

I combined my letters with leaves and holly from the Leaves of Holly Stamp Set. Each of these images were fussy cut out and after a bit of manipulation, I was able to make the leaves work with the scrabble letters.

I also had the ribbon sitting on the desk that had been discarded from another project. I looped this ribbon from the top of the card down the side and adhered with Glue Dots. One Champagne Rhinestone was added for a bit of bling.

Global Design Project #364

Hey Everyone

I had a play in my craft room this afternoon and created a card to play along with the latest challenge at Global Design Project Challenge.

Their challenge this week is a CASE challenge. They’ve given us the challenge to cASE the following gorge card from Madeleine Mrotzek.

I absolutely adore her card! For my take on her card, I combined images and dies from the Sending Smiles Bundle. I’ve inked up flowers in the rainbow of colours and cut them out. I then inked up the stems and fussy cut them out also.

The diecut sentiment was already cut out and sitting on my desk. However, I lost the dot so instead of cutting up another one, I added a matt dot to add to the “I”. I chose a stamped sentiment that combines perfectly with the diecut and adhered them down.

To finish off my card, I added three Brushed Brass Butterflies to dance amongst the flowers.

Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #625

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge for you to play along with over at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

How pretty is this inspiration pic?

Stampin’ Up! have given me the perfect DSP to colour and fussy cut out for this challenge. This DSP is from a pack called Abigail Rose. The ledger print DSP is also from this pack. I roughed up the edges of this DSP as well as added Crumb Cake Ink around the edges to give it a worn look. The Basic White Cardstock piece behind the DSP has been embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder and also given the worn and torn edges.

Under the flower images, I added diecuts that I had sitting on my desk and a bow made with the Gold and Satin Edged Ribbon. My favourite sentiment from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set was added to finish off the card.

The team have created awesome cards for this challenge, so make sure you head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.
