Global Design Project #255

Hey Everyone

I have to say, I’m actually enjoying my lockdown weekends. Only being allowed out to go to the supermarket and one hour of exercise a day, means more time in my craft room!  If only I could bring myself to clean it……

I’ve managed to play along with the latest challenge at Global Design Project. Take a look at their fab challenge:

I could’ve used pretty much all of my Stampin’ Up! Sets in my craft room for this challenge, as they almost all have leaves in them!  The set I’ve chosen is called Forever Fern Stamp Set.  The leaf images that I’ve stamped, in Mint Macaron and Smoky Slate, have been fussy cut and layered about the sentiment – also from the Forever Fern Stamp Set.  I love that this set also has background ink splatters – you can never have to many ink splatter stamps!

The designer series paper I’ve roughed up is from the Peony Gardens Designer Series Paper pack.  I also roughed up the edges of a piece of Mint Macaron Cardstock to layer underneath.  I added some Linen Thread strips and a Linen Thread Bow to finish off my card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #450

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by my friend Karren Johnson – all the way over the other side of the ditch from me. One day I will get to see her beautiful country and touch all the sets she has in her craft room.

I went for a bit of fun with those circles. We could all use a smile couldn’t we? I saw letters instead of circle could be used and tried to think of abbreviations with three letters. After a couple of mishaps with letters that would be a tad rude if I’d used them, I came up with FMS! This card is for my girls at  Freshly  Made Sketches!

I’ve combined the letters with some foliage, because I had to give it some fullness.  The leaves I’ve stamped are from the Forever Fern Stamp Set.  They’ve been stamped in Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Inks. The designer series paper I’ve added to the background is from the Peony Garden DSP pack.

The rhinestones I’ve added to my card have been coloured with the Dark Bermuda Bay Blend so that they could match the colour scheme I created.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using Karren’s sketch. Pop over to the challenge to see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #449

Hey Everyone

Welcome to Wednesday and the newest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our fabulous sketch has been designed by the fabulous Cecile Ribon! I love Cecile’s sketches as they are always so interesting and really test me.

The Prized Peony Stamp Set came to mind when I saw her sketch. I’ve paired my peony image with a piece of DSP the matching Peony Garden Designer Series Paper pack.  I cut a piece of Smoky Slate Cardstock into the same triangle shape so that I had two triangles. You may notice I don’t have a third triangle. This was because whichever colour I tried to add didn’t quite fit with me, so I added stamping to mimic the third triangle.  This background stamping was done with the geometric background stamp found in the Prized Peony Stamp Set and Gray Granite Ink.

The flower that I have created, has been coloured with my Pool Party Blends.  I then took the Light Bermuda Bay and Dark Smoky Slate Blends and added colour to the crease lines to create depth to the flower.  The centre of the flower has been given a quick colour with the Dark So Saffron Blend.

The leaves that I have added to my card were discarded from another project. I’ve had them sitting on my desk for a few weeks and rather than throw them out, I’ve given them a home on my card.  These leaves were created by taking some Pool Party Ink with my Aqua Painter and adding it to some Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Once the paper dried, I took the leaf die from the Forever Flourishing Dies and cut out two leaves.

As always, the girls at Freshly Made Sketches have created the most awesome cards. To be inspired by their awesomeness, head over to the blog and check out their cards.

Freshly Made Sketches #448

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Jennifer Brum. Her creations are always just stunning and super clean.

Stampin’ Up! have gorgeous packs of designer series papers that have wonderful images made for fussy cutting.  These perfectly coloured leaves are from the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper pack. The strip of DSP I’ve added behind these leaves is also from this pack.

The sentiment I chose to add is from the matching stamp set called Forever Fern Stamp Set. I’ve got a friend in mind for this card who makes me smile every day at work. I coloured the background with the Light Soft Sea Foam Blend and added some ink splatters in Garden Green Ink from the Forever Fern Stamp Set.

I then added some gems from the Flowers For Every Season Gems to tie in with my greenery.  Some Braided Linen Trim was added under the sentiment to match the Sahara Sand Cardstock base.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards using this weeks sketch.  Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #252

Hey Everyone

The challenge at Global Design Project is CASE the Designer. When I saw the card was this gorgeous one from my Artisan friend, Emma Goddard, I thought no way can I CASE that! I remember the first time I saw it.  Pretty sure my mouth was hanging open for a good few minutes at how absolutely stunning it was.

I decided to give it a go and came up with the card below. You gotta push yourself out of your comfort zone sometimes, right?

I wanted to use similar colours as Emma used, and of course I had to get flowers in on my card.  The flowers I’ve added to my card are the from the Tasteful Touches Stamp Set.  I coloured them with a combination of So Saffron, Mango Melody and Dark Calypso Coral Blends.  The reason for so many blends, was that I was trying out colours and kept adding until I got to the shade I liked.  I also added some Dark Smoky Slate Blend to create depth to the flower.  The feather I’ve added to the images has been stamped in Black Memento Ink and then daubed with Crumb Cake Ink.  Some Winc of Stella was added to give it a little shimmer.

I coloured the background with my Light So Saffron Blend to create a watercoloured-like background. I then took my Aqua Painter and some Melon Mambo Ink and flicked a smattering of ink all over the card. It’s very faint, but I also stamped the background stamp from Tasteful Touches in Sahara Sand Ink, on the background.

The sentiment I’ve stamped directly to my card base is from the same stamp set.  The fussy cut leaves are also from the Tasteful Touches Stamp Set.  These leaves have been created by applying Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede Markers directly to the image.  I then huffed on them with my breath and stamped them.

To finish off my card, I took my Light Melon Mambo Blend and coloured a strip of Braided Linen Trim. Three Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels were also added to bling it up.

Colour INKspiration #29

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration Colour Challenge Blog Hop!

If you have been hopping along you will have come from Mel Pagano’s awesome card.  If not, don’t worry you can follow the hop and start again.  Colour INKspiration is a Facebook Group where you can share your card and be inspired by the creativity there.

Take a look at these gorgeous colours we have for you to create your projects:

I was in love with these colours as soon as I saw them – they called out to my past vintage style.  After I completed my card I was trying to work out if my card still fit in the category of vintage……I’ve decided it could be considered “clean vintage” (if there’s such a thing!).

These roses from Graceful Garden definitely fit vintage.  They were the first set I thought of when I saw the inspiration pic. The sentiment and background stamp are both from Graceful Garden too.  For once I have used stamps from the one stamp set on my card!  The flowers and leaves are lightly watercoloured with my Aqua Painter.

The next hop along the way is the wonderfully talented Jacque Williams.  You’re going to love her project!

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #327

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch hostess is the wonderfully talented Jen Mitchell.  Jen is not only the creator of gorgeous clean cards, she’s also a fabulous sketch designer.  Take a look at her cool sketch:

I’ve had my newly purchased Brusho sitting on my desk unused for a few weeks.  It kind of scared me as I was unsure how to use it.  I decided to give it a go on this weeks card.

I wanted to created a washed looking background and I think I achieved this….. I carried over the yellow and tinges of red from the background into my flowers.  The flowers I’ve used are from Perennial Birthday.  I gave them a quick colour with So Saffron and Real Red Inks.  The leaves were also given a quick watercolour with Pear Pizzazz Ink.  I then stamped some leaves from in Petal Palette in Basic Basic Ink and fussy cut them to layer behind the flowers.

I really like the sentiment on this card as it can be used for so many occasions.  It’s also from Stampin’ Up!s Perennial Birthday.

The team are sure to wow you with their cards – head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look.

The Card Concept #37

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new challenge and a new inspiration picture for you at The Card Concept. Take a look:

CC37pic

Ok, so I am not overly loving my card. Don’t know what it was but I really struggled.  Maybe it was the combination of so many bright colours – but I really couldn’t get my shabby on with them.  My background was created by watercolouring a whole heaps of colours to some watercolour paper and sponging in spots that needed a little more colour.  Here’s what I came up with:

The team has provided wonderful inspiration for you – head over to The Card Concept and check them out.

Mojo Monday #400

Hey Everyone

It’s not like me to be able to play along with challenges on a Monday but it’s a holiday here in Melbourne and I have some free time.  After a quick look around at the challenges I found that Mojo Monday is having a design team search for their 400th challenge.  Thought I’d play along as theirs was one of the first challenges I came across and it pretty much inspired me to get myself a blog.

For this special challenge Julee has gone back to where it all started, and for inspiration, we get to play along with her very first sketch:
