Freshly Made Sketches #551

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the newest sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch was designed by the wonderfully talented Kim Singdahlsen.

I pulled out my all-time favourite stamp set – Friends are Like Seashells Stamp Set. After stamping all the shells, I coloured them with a combination of Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Blends. After they were coloured, I cut them out ready for layering.

The background cardstock was given colour with a Blending Brush and Pool Party Ink. I then took the ink splatters stamp and Pool Party Ink and stamped over the blended area.

I cut 3 strips of cardstock – Sahara Sand, Pacific Point and Pool Party. All 3 were torn on one side and adhered on the blended cardstock. I then took some Linen Thread and looped it around the card. The shells and sentiment were then placed with some shells raised up with Dimensionals.

Here’s my card:

Global Design Project Challenge #346

Hey Everyone

The sketch challenge at Global Design Project had me reaching for my favourite stamp set – Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. The placement of flowers on the sketch had me thinking of shells on a shaded background with ink splatters.

I took out the images I wanted to use and inked them up with Black Memento Ink. I then took a combination of Pale Papaya, Pumpkin Pie & Smoky Slate Blends to give the images colour. I inked up the leaf-y images in Smoky Slate Ink and fussy cut them out after stamping.

The Linen Thread that I plaited has been placed around the shells and adhered down with Glue Dots. The sentiment that I’ve added to my card is also from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. This sentiment is actually one stamp, but I’ve trimmed it through the centre to give me two sentiments – I feel this gives me more balance.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink#605

Hey Everyone

We love Friday’s because that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

This inspiration pic is just awesome! I can see you all creating diverse cards with either the colours from the pic or an oceanic card like I have. This card reminds me of yesterdays card, but this one was made three weeks ago. I uploaded it to our gallery and then forgot all about it. I only whipped up yesterdays card on Sunday – it seems they kind of unintentionally match!

The Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set got another workout for my card. All of the images have been lightly watercoloured. The ink colours I’ve used are – Night of Navy and Crumb Cake for the shells and Mint Macaron for the leaves.

The DSP I’ve used down the side of my card and also on the card base is from the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper pack. I matted the striped DSP with Night of Navy Cardstock as I think it makes the stripes in the DSP pop.

The sentiment has been trimmed in half and layered for more interest. I had an off-cut piece of White Frayed Ribbon sitting on my desk, so I used my fingers and frayed it at one end. I then added a Linen Thread Bow around this ribbon and tucked it behind the layers.

The team have created awesome projects using the inspiration pic. Make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #537

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and another sketch challenge to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by Judy Rozema

The banner on Judy’s sketch had me thinking nautical. Which had me reaching for my Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. The DSP banner I’ve added to my card is from the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper pack. I cut this piece on my paper trimmer roughly measured to look like the sketch. The colours for the shells was then taken from the DSP.

The large shell was coloured with Smoky Slate and Balmy Blue Blends. The medium sized shell was coloured with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Blends and the small round shell with the Balmy Blue Blends. All three were then given glitter with the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.

Once all of the shells were coloured, I added a strip of Night of Navy Cardstock and a sentiment from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. To finish off my card, I added some Linen Thread and three Iridescent Basic Pearls.

The team have created awesome cards. Make sure you pop over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #529

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Jennifer Timko. Take a look at her fab sketch:

I can’t tell you how much I love the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. You probably know how much with how many times I’ve used it!

The shells I’ve added to my card have been lightly coloured with the Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Crumb Cake Blends. The leafy vines have been stamped in Bermuda Bay Ink and fussy cut out.

The cardstock colours I’ve used are Pool Party and Crumb Cake. I love these combo of colours for oceanic card. I took some Crumb Cake Twine and tied a knot and adhered over the Crumb Cake Cardstock strips of card i layered to the Whisper White Cardstock. I’ve torn some Crumb Cake Cardstock and added to each side of a Whisper White Cardstock panel that was shaded some with Pool Party Ink and a Blending Brush.

We would love it if you could play along. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look at the wonderful inspiration our design team have created for you.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve inked up the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. You all know how much I love it, but I’ve been playing with new products and also completing some Christmas cards.

My shells have been coloured with a combination of Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry Blends. I then chose my DSP and cardstock to match these colours.

The background was given Pool Party Ink with the Blending Brush and then stamped with the ink splatters stamp from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set.

Just Add Ink #576

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday, so that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week the challenge for us is to:

I think of myself as a lazy stamper, so creating a card with a moveable element tested me…I had to rely on Pinterest on how to make a moving element card as it’s been years since I created anything that moved.

The tutorial I came across was this one from Meg Loven. Instead of a pooch, I chose a yacht from the Sailing Home Stamp Set that moves across the card from behind the lighthouse. I created waves with strips of Basic White Cardstock inked up with the Blending Brush to cover the punch hole. I’m still unsure if I love this so I may end up taking those waves off. The sandy beach was also created with the Blending Brush and Crumb Cake Ink.

The shells are from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. These have been coloured with the Crumb Cake and Bermuda Bay Blends. The boat has also been coloured with these two Blends. The lighthouse was given colour with a combination of Smoky Slate and a touch of Bermuda Bay Blends.

To make the yacht move I added some Linen Thread to the tab to use an an anchor point for moving the yacht.

The team have created awesome projects for this challenge. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #503

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. Every week I am thrilled to see what our sketch is going to be. I have to say, I adore this sketch that the fabulously talented Cecile Ribon has created.

I couldn’t go past the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set for this card. It’s been a couple of weeks since I used this set, so time it got some ink love.

I like to mix up my colours when using this set. The shells have been coloured with the Highland Heather and Soft Succulent Blends. My Color Lifter got a bit of a work out with these shells as I like giving them a light colouring. Each of these shells has been fussy cut out.

To add the leafy element from the sketch, I diecut a sea grass diecut with the Smooth Sailing Dies in Basic White Cardstock. The woodgrain designer series paper squares are from the In Good Taste DSP pack.

For the base of the card I took a Blending Brush and some Balmy Blue Ink and shaded the Basic White Cardstock. I then took the ink splatters stamp and randomly added some ink splatters.

After layering all of my elements together, I added a simple sentiment from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. I kept the sentiment slim and simple so you could see my shells.

The Clean Team have created wonderful cards that will no doubt inspire you. Make sure you pop over to the challenge and see what they created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #302

Hey Everyone

Love a Sunday, spending time in my craft room colouring, fussy cutting and half watching Netflix series while I create. I’ve created this card for the sketch challenge at Global Design Project. Take a look at their fab sketch:

Combining stamp sets make your sets more versatile. I like that the artwork in the Sailing Home and Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set are similar – so I love pairing them for my cards.

The lighthouse is from the Sailing Home Set. The lighthouse has been coloured with the Night of Navy Blends and Smoky Slate Blends.

The shells I’ve layered around my lighthouse are from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. I’ve coloured them in a combination of Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Night of Navy Blends.

I found an off cut piece of retired White Flax Ribbon sitting in the messier corner of my desk (I have more than one messy corner…..). I pulled apart one end of the ribbon and tied a piece of Linen Thread around it. I then tucked the other end under the shells and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

The strips of DSP I layered on my card are from the In Good Taste DSP. I used a piece of light woodgrain DSP for the background so my images would stand out.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #496

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch designer is the fabulous and talented Judy Rozema.

I really adore Judy’s sketch! I chose to decorate the panels with the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. You may have noticed this is one of my favourite sets because of the many times I’ve used these images.

I’ve coloured my shells with a combination of Pool Party, Soft Suede and Pool Party Blends. I also went to town with my Colour Lifter to remove ink and harsh lines. The little leaf stems have been stamped in Pool Party Ink and fussy cut out.

The DSP panel has a weave print in it in Crumb Cake. This DSP is from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper pack. I liked this one for my card as I felt it matched the scene I was going for.

For the other two panels, I stamped the images with the large and small stamps, that are designed to be used to colour two of the shells, as watercoloured splotches in Crumb Cake Ink. Once the ink was dry, I took a sentiment and Black Memento Ink and stamped the sentiment over the watercolour typed background.

I then took three pieces of Linen Thread and plaited the twine and stapled one end at the top of the card and knotted the bottom of the other end adhered it to the cardstock with Glue Dots.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using Judy’s sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.
