Freshly Made Sketches #503

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. Every week I am thrilled to see what our sketch is going to be. I have to say, I adore this sketch that the fabulously talented Cecile Ribon has created.

I couldn’t go past the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set for this card. It’s been a couple of weeks since I used this set, so time it got some ink love.

I like to mix up my colours when using this set. The shells have been coloured with the Highland Heather and Soft Succulent Blends. My Color Lifter got a bit of a work out with these shells as I like giving them a light colouring. Each of these shells has been fussy cut out.

To add the leafy element from the sketch, I diecut a sea grass diecut with the Smooth Sailing Dies in Basic White Cardstock. The woodgrain designer series paper squares are from the In Good Taste DSP pack.

For the base of the card I took a Blending Brush and some Balmy Blue Ink and shaded the Basic White Cardstock. I then took the ink splatters stamp and randomly added some ink splatters.

After layering all of my elements together, I added a simple sentiment from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. I kept the sentiment slim and simple so you could see my shells.

The Clean Team have created wonderful cards that will no doubt inspire you. Make sure you pop over to the challenge and see what they created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Fusion Challenge – Flowers

Hey Everyone

I’m back with my second post today. The card I’m sharing is for the latest Fusion Challenge. This week the challenge is Flowers. Take a look at their challenge pic that I took inspiration from. Initially I was going to use both the sketch and colours from the challenge, but in the end I wen’t with the colours only.

The To A Wild Rose Stamp Set called out to me for this challenge. I gave the rose colour with my Calypso Coral Blends. I took the Dark Smoky Slate Blends and added some shading to the centre of the rose petals. The leaves, also from the To A Wild Rose Stamp set, have been shaded with my Mint Macaron Blends.

The die cut leaves that I’ve added to my card are cut with dies from the Forever Flourishing Dies in a mix of Whisper White Cardstock and Mint Macaron Cardstock. The rectangle of DSP I’ve used is from the In Good Taste DSP pack. I’ve given the edges of it a worn look so it became a little bit vintage-y. I then added a rectangle of Sahara Sand Cardstock and a Linen Thread bow to match with the Sahara Sand Cardstock.

Here’s my card:

Global Design Project #275 & CAS(E) this Sketch #405

Hey Everyone

On a 37degree celsius day what else is there to do but sit in my air conditioned craft room? Actually, I’d use any excuse to sit in there….

I’ve combined my card today for two challenges – the theme challenge at Global Design Project and the final ever sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge. Here are their pics:

The card I’ve created has been created for a man, but this could work for a female also. The images I’ve added to my card are from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. You can probably tell how much I love this set as I’ve used it more than once….

The large shell was stamped with Black Memento Ink. I took my Seaside Spray Blends and the Light Night of Navy Blend to give the shell some colour. The round shell was coloured with the light and dark Crumb Cake Blends. The little starfish has been given a quick colour with the Soft Suede Blends.

I wanted to give the background some interest so I took the ink splatter stamp and some Crumb Cake Ink. I stamped the splatters from the left side of the card to the bottom right of the card – making sure it went under the sentiment. The sentiment I’ve added is also from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set.

The designer series paper is a woodgrain piece from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper Pack. To finish off the card I added some Linen Thread and added a knot under the cluster of shells.

Thanks for stopping by.

Friends Are Like Seashells – I’ve collected a few seashells during Covid….

Hey Everyone

Not many positives during Covid, but one absolute positive I’ve found is the new friends I’ve found with online chats. My chat today lasted almost 6 hours with friends around the world. Nothing better than almost 6 hours of crafty chat time with ladies who have the same love as me.

The card I created today features the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. The shells have been given colour with a combination of Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Crumb Cake Blends. I’ve layered all the shells on a circle of Whisper White Cardstock. I then added this to a piece of Whisper White Cardstock that was daubed with Crumb Cake Ink and stamp with ink splatters.

I had a strip of ribbon on my desk that I twirled and then twirled again and layered it under the sentiment – also from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set.

The piece of DSP paper I’ve added is from the Good Taste Designer Series Paper. I roughed up the edges of the paper with my nail and matted it with a piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock – also roughed up with my nail.

Three Basic Pearl Jewels finished off the card.

Thanks for stopping by.
