Freshly Made Sketches #537

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and another sketch challenge to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by Judy Rozema

The banner on Judy’s sketch had me thinking nautical. Which had me reaching for my Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. The DSP banner I’ve added to my card is from the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper pack. I cut this piece on my paper trimmer roughly measured to look like the sketch. The colours for the shells was then taken from the DSP.

The large shell was coloured with Smoky Slate and Balmy Blue Blends. The medium sized shell was coloured with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Blends and the small round shell with the Balmy Blue Blends. All three were then given glitter with the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.

Once all of the shells were coloured, I added a strip of Night of Navy Cardstock and a sentiment from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. To finish off my card, I added some Linen Thread and three Iridescent Basic Pearls.

The team have created awesome cards. Make sure you pop over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #536

Hey everyone

Note: when you schedule your post, make sure you press schedule….this post was for last week….

We have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week the amazingly talented Karren Johnson has given us this fab sketch to create with:

Getting new stamping products always makes me smile. These gorgeous flowers are fussy cut from a new pack of DSP that I’ve purchased. It’s called Hues of Happiness and has a wonderful assortment of images and colours. The leaves are also cut from the same papers.

To create the background under my flowers, I took a Blending Brush and some So Saffron Ink. I shaded the background down the middle of the Whisper White Cardstock. I then took the script stamp from Very Versailles Stamp Set and some Basic Gray Ink and stamped this script stamp twice to cover the cardstock.

I then added three Iridescent Basic Rhinestones and a ribbon bow that I added under my sentiment. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Cardstock.

Because I made this card for my mum, I roughed up the edges of the card as she is a lover of vintage. Tis probs a tad too many raw edges for a clean challenge, but just image clean edges and it will fit the brief!

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #342

Hey Everyone

There’s a sketch challenge at Global Design Project that I wanted to play along with, so I whipped around the house and kind of cleaned and headed out to my craft room.

I have never been one to reach for Night Of Navy when creating a card. But as soon as I saw the gorgeous Sun Prints DSP, I knew I had to have this DSP.

The Nature’s Prints Stamp Set and Natural Prints Dies features on my card. The leafy image I’ve stamped twice and fussy cut has been watercoloured with Night Of Navy Ink. I’ve probs never seen leaves this colour but I wanted them to match my DSP. I added two Whisper White Cardstock die cuts to the layers and a stamped sentiment from the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set. This sentiment was then die cut with a die from the Natural Prints Dies.

Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #603

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday! So that means it’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is a colour challenge. Have a look at these gorgeous colours!

I love receiving new catalogue products! I’ve been waiting for new flowery stamp sets to colour and fussy cut!

The stamp set I’ve used for my card is called Happiness Abounds. How gorgeous are these blooms? I’ve got my watercolouring on and coloured the flowers with a combination of Blushing Bride and Rich Razzleberry Inks. The leaves have been watercoloured with Mint Maccaron Ink. All flowers and leaves have been fussy cut out.

To add a little bit more interest, I added some leafy die cuts cut with the matching dies to the stamp set, called Blossoming Happiness Dies. The sentiment was stamped on a label that was found in the die set also.

The background cardstock has been embossed with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder. To add a little bit of bling I added three Polished Dots.

To add some of the challenge colours, I added strips of Blushing Bride and Mint Macaron Cardstock under the sentiment label.

The team have created wonderful cards that will no doubt inspire you to create a card and add it to the gallery. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #534

Hey Everyone

Welcome to Wednesday and a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully creative Cecile Ribon.

I adore all of Cecile’s sketches. They’re always super creative and really get me thinking. The Mountain Air Stamp Set came to mind when I saw her sketch, I’ve created a mountain scene and layered some fussy cut trees with a sentiment.

Some fussy cut clouds, also from the Mountain Air Stamp Set, were added just because I could. Both clouds were raised with dimensional and surrounded by stamped bird images.

To make my scene pop, I matted the cardstock with Basic Gray Cardstock and layered it on a Smoky Slate card base.

Just Add Ink #601

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week is a sketch challenge. Sketch challenges are my fav and great starting point to making any card.

The card I’ve created is a roughed up creation using the In The Moment Stamp Set combined with the lighthouse image from the soon-to-retired Sailing Home Stamp Set.

The image of the girl holding her hat has been watercoloured with Fresh Freesia Ink and Smoky Slate Ink. I also used some Crumb Cake Ink for her hair, railing and glass of wine (I think it’s wine…). The lighthouse has been watercoloured with Smoky Slate Ink and fussy cut out.

The circle image has been given a seaside scene with a Blending Brush, Pool Party and Crumb Cake Inks. The birds have been stamped from the In The Moment Stamp Set also. I had to mask off the image with a post-it to stamp them where I wanted them.

Both the DSP (from the Heart & Home DSP pack) and Basic Gray Cardstock have been roughed up, torn and adhered on the angle. As we always do, I had strips of offcut cardstock on my desk, so I created two slim banners and stapled them to the top left as I felt the card was imbalanced with the images placed more on the right side of the circles.

The sentiment that I’ve placed on the layers is also from the In the Moment Stamp Set.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful inspiration for you. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they created.

Freshly Made Sketches #533

Hey Everyone

Tis Wednesday! So that means a new sketch to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch hostess is non other than my tall hiking Canadian friend Jennifer Brum! She loves the outdoors, as do I, but me usually viewing from the car window… But we both love our craft rooms and creating, so she’s a keeper in my books!

I have to say, i absolutely adore this sketch. It’s awesome and I can see so many different images being combined with it.

I’ve layered three strips of DSP that we trimmed to add the space for the sentiment. This pretty DSP is from the Heart & Home DSP pack. To pair my images with the DSP, I stamped up a Fresh Freesia flower from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set. I then stamped up two more flowers in Smoky Slate Ink. All three flowers were then fussy cut out.

The leaves I’ve added to the layers are stamped in Soft Succulent Ink and also fussy cut out.

To add a bit more dimension and texture, I cut a Whisper White Cardstock leafy die cut from the matching Artistic Dies.

To finish off my card, I added three Polished Dots.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards with the sketch. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #599

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

My favourite animal is a sloth but I don’t have a sloth stamp in my stash. So i decided to go with a favourite animal I have in my craft room. The Count on Me Stamp Set has the cutest bear holding a heart, so I grabbed it out to colour with my Smoky Slate Blends. The heart has been coloured with the Cherry Cobbler Blends. I added an extra heart to the layers behind the leafy diecut.

The vellum DSP I’ve added to the background is from the Vellum 12 x 12 Layering Designs pack. I think I’m going to give this card to my niece for her baby shower as I think it will be a special day and want to wish her happiness for it.

The girls at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous projects. Make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #531

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch designer this week is the wonderful and ever so creative Linda Callahan.

The card I’ve created features the Painted Poppies Stamp Set. The poppies have been given colour with a combination of Pool Party and Misty Moonlight Blends. I fussy cut each of the flowers out and layered them on my card.

The background cardstock was shaded with Pool Party Ink and ink splatters were stamped across the shading.

Two strips of cardstock were added under the flowers. I’ve added Pool Party and Basic Gray Cardstock.

Three Basic Gray Basic Matte Dots were placed around the card as you always have to have an odd number of them.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards with the sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.
