Freshly Made Sketches #489

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my new blog and the newest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch, that I adore btw, has been designed by the wonderfully talented Linda Callahan.

I can’t stop myself from reaching for the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. But I told myself that this sketch needed those shells.

The largest image has been coloured with the Mint Macaron Blends. The starfish was given colour with the Pale Papaya Blends. I coloured one of the clam shells with Bermuda Bay Blends and the other one with a light touch of Pale Papaya Blends. The leafy images were coloured with the Bermuda Bay Blends.

The base piece of Basic White Cardstock was embossed with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder and raised up with dimensionals. I like a lot of height to my cards, so I dimensionalise every layer.

The piece of Basic White Cardstock that my shells have been layered on has been coloured with the Light Soft Sea Foam Blend and the ink splatters stamp has been stamped in Black Memento Ink over the top.

Finally a sentiment, also from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set, was added.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created. You’re going to love their cards as much as I do.

Thanks for stopping by.

A Very Versailles Card

Hey Everyone

I’ve been a bit quiet on here as I’ve been trying to clean up my craft room. I really only try for about an hour before I discover something I haven’t seen in ages and get sidetracked.

In-between the hour of effort to clean up, I decided to pull out the Very Versailles Stamp Set and get my fussy cutting on. Fussy cutting relaxes me and I enjoy the challenge of snipping around these leaves. The leaves have been given colour with the Smoky Slate and Gorgeous Grape Markers by applying ink directly to the leafy stamp. After huffing on the stamp, I stamped the image on Basic White Cardstock and fussy cut it out.

I then inked up the butterfly and gave it some colour with the Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather Blends. The butterfly also got the fussy cutting treatment.

For the base of the card, I took the Light Soft Sea Foam Blend and added some colour before stamping the script background stamp. The script stamp was inked up with Black Memento Ink. To the edge fo the Basic White Cardstock, I added a torn piece of Gorgeous Grape Cardstock and a strip of Sahara Sand Cardstock. I keep all of my off cut pieces of cardstock for this very reason.

To finish off my card, I took a piece of Mossy Meadow Braided trim and placed it under the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches488 #

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our fab sketch has been designed by our wonderfully talented Jen Mitchell.

I wanted to use the Sweet Strawberry Stamp Set for my card, mainly because of this sentiment. Got a few friends that fit the sweet thing title.

The strawberries have been stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with the Real Red Blends. When colouring these strawberries, I coloured with the Light Real Red Blend over the whole image. I then took the Dark Real Red Blend and added colour around the edges of the image. I then took my Colour Lifter and took some of the colour from the centre. I’m hoping this gives them a life like look. The leaves and stem of the strawberries are coloured with my Soft Succulent Blends. The little flowers have been coloured with the Light and Dark Pale Papaya Blends. All images were then fussy cut out.

The DSP I’ve used in the background is from the Simply Elegant Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. To finish off the card I added 3 clear Elegant Faceted Gems. A little bit of bling, but not too flashy.

The team have created wonderful cards using this weeks sketch. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #556

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Friday and a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is for you to:

Slimline cards are really on trend and I am seeing there everywhere. I love a slimline card as it gives me extra space to layers lots of images.

The stamp set I’ve featured on my card is called Sailing Home Stamp Set. The lighthouse image has been stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with a combination of Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Blends. The sailing boat image has been given colour with Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and a touch of Pool Party Blends. The compass and anchor images have been given a quick colour with the Light Soft Suede Blend.

To create a soft background for the images, I took a Blending Brush and some Pool Party Ink and blended some ink until I achieved the look I wanted. The sentiment I’ve added to my card is from the Art Gallery Stamp Set.

The girls at Just Add Ink have created awesome slimline cards. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created. We would love it if you could play along.

Freshly Made Sketches #487

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch is a slimline card sketch. Our sketch has been designed by the super talented Jennifer Timko. Jen’s card are always so lovely and so creative. I love her sketches just as much as her cards.

When I get a challenge to create a slimline card, I try and fill the space with as many images as I can. These bird images from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set fill the space perfectly. I coloured the birds with the Light and Dark Poppy Parade Blends. I then took the Light Basic Black Blend and added some definition around the edge and wings on all birds. I took my retired White Gel Pen and added a highlight to their bellies and beaks.

I coloured the leaves and branches of the stem with Crumb Cake and Soft Succulent Blends. The flowers of this branch have been coloured with the Pale Papaya Blends. The fussy cut flower is also from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set. This flower has been coloured with my Pale Papaya Blends and the centre with the Light Poppy Parade Blend. By adding Poppy Parade to the centre of the flower, it tied the flower and birds together.

To soften the background of the Basic White Cardstock, I took some Pool Party Ink and a Blending Brush and shaded the background. I took some White Baker Twine and added this to my card with a bow nestled in the branches. The sentiment was placed after everything was adhered to finish off my card.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome slimline cards. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Colour INKspiration #29

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration Colour Challenge Blog Hop!

If you have been hopping along you will have come from Mel Pagano’s awesome card.  If not, don’t worry you can follow the hop and start again.  Colour INKspiration is a Facebook Group where you can share your card and be inspired by the creativity there.

Take a look at these gorgeous colours we have for you to create your projects:

I was in love with these colours as soon as I saw them – they called out to my past vintage style.  After I completed my card I was trying to work out if my card still fit in the category of vintage……I’ve decided it could be considered “clean vintage” (if there’s such a thing!).

These roses from Graceful Garden definitely fit vintage.  They were the first set I thought of when I saw the inspiration pic. The sentiment and background stamp are both from Graceful Garden too.  For once I have used stamps from the one stamp set on my card!  The flowers and leaves are lightly watercoloured with my Aqua Painter.

The next hop along the way is the wonderfully talented Jacque Williams.  You’re going to love her project!

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #399

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday, so that means we have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  Our challenge for you is to:

I’m going through a bit of a watercolour background phase on my cards.  This week I’ve created a watery type background with my Stampin’ Up Watercolor Pencil.

What image goes with a blue watercoloured background?  A lighthouse from High Tide and three fussy cut seagulls.  The lighthouse and seagulls are from High Tide.  The lighthouse is stamped in Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate.  I then added some grass that is also fussy cut and placed around my lighthouse.  The sentiment I’ve used is from For You to finish off my card I added some Black Bakers Twine.

Here’s my card:

The team at Just Add Ink have created the most creative cards I’ve seen using this weeks theme.  Head over to Just Add Ink and take a look.

Freshly Made Sketches #327

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch hostess is the wonderfully talented Jen Mitchell.  Jen is not only the creator of gorgeous clean cards, she’s also a fabulous sketch designer.  Take a look at her cool sketch:

I’ve had my newly purchased Brusho sitting on my desk unused for a few weeks.  It kind of scared me as I was unsure how to use it.  I decided to give it a go on this weeks card.

I wanted to created a washed looking background and I think I achieved this….. I carried over the yellow and tinges of red from the background into my flowers.  The flowers I’ve used are from Perennial Birthday.  I gave them a quick colour with So Saffron and Real Red Inks.  The leaves were also given a quick watercolour with Pear Pizzazz Ink.  I then stamped some leaves from in Petal Palette in Basic Basic Ink and fussy cut them to layer behind the flowers.

I really like the sentiment on this card as it can be used for so many occasions.  It’s also from Stampin’ Up!s Perennial Birthday.

The team are sure to wow you with their cards – head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Card Concept #37

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new challenge and a new inspiration picture for you at The Card Concept. Take a look:

CC37pic

Ok, so I am not overly loving my card. Don’t know what it was but I really struggled.  Maybe it was the combination of so many bright colours – but I really couldn’t get my shabby on with them.  My background was created by watercolouring a whole heaps of colours to some watercolour paper and sponging in spots that needed a little more colour.  Here’s what I came up with:

The team has provided wonderful inspiration for you – head over to The Card Concept and check them out.
