Freshly Made Sketches #190

Hey Everyone

It’s already Wednesday again – I can’t believe how quickly the weeks are flying by.  Our sketch hostess at Freshly Made Sketches is the wonderfully talented Amy O’Neill. If you aren’t a frequent visitor of Amy’s blog then you need to be, as she creates the most amazing cards and combines colours like no other.

So I might have strayed a little from the sketch but if you squint your eyes a bit you can almost make out a kind of oval out of the stars 😉

Our team has created wonderful inspiration for you so head over to the blog and take a look at their cards. We would love you to play along.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Paper Players Challenge #248, TGIF Challenge #6 & Pretty Pink Posh Watercolour Challenge

Hey Everyone

The card I created today is different than I normally make. It has a bit of watercolouring (something I don’t do very often) and not many layers (something I do less often than watercolouring!).

I’m entering my card into three challenges – The Paper Players Masculine Themed Challenge, TGIF Watercolouring Challenge and Pretty Pink Posh’s Watercolour Blog Hop.

To create my card I lightly watercoloured my background with Night of Navy & Pear Pizzazz Ink.  I then stamped the boat image from Stampin’ Up!s Moon Lake and coloured the tree with my blender pen and boat with Blendabilities. Because the lack of layers was doing my head in I actually coloured a second boat, fussy cut it out and raised it up with dimensionals – you can’t really tell this by my photo though. Here’s my CAS card:

Mojo Monday #400

Hey Everyone

It’s not like me to be able to play along with challenges on a Monday but it’s a holiday here in Melbourne and I have some free time.  After a quick look around at the challenges I found that Mojo Monday is having a design team search for their 400th challenge.  Thought I’d play along as theirs was one of the first challenges I came across and it pretty much inspired me to get myself a blog.

For this special challenge Julee has gone back to where it all started, and for inspiration, we get to play along with her very first sketch:

Freshly Made Sketches #189

Hey Everyone

It’s my turn to host this weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  I’ve gone for layered shapes for my design – sorry Jen B, it has a circle on it!

FMS189sketch

I’ve been thinking I am well overdue for a man card. So for my card I’ve used Stampin’ Up!s Open Sea and paired it with a sentiment from Petite Pairs.

The Card Concept #36

Hey Everyone

I really love challenges as they make me try different colour combos that I would never usually try.  Take a look at the fab inspiration pic we have for you at The Card Concept.

CC36pic

I tried a new-to-me technique – the emboss resist technique.  I heat embossed Stampin’ Up!s En Francais with Clear Embossing Powder.  I then sponged Slate Gray and Morning Meadow ink in patches and then wiped away the excess with a paper towel.  I then set about fussy cutting (gee did they take time!) the fern fronds and flower from Butterfly Basics.  Here’s my card:

We’d love for you to join us with our challenge. Head over to The Card Concept and link up a card. While you’re there, take a look at the wonderful inspiration from the design team.

Freshly Made Sketches #188

Hey Everyone

Wednesday’s bring a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch hostess is the wonderfully talented Karren Johnson.  She has such a creative mind – I just love everything she does!

FMS188sketch

I have gone with a shaker card as I think it worked well with the sketch.  Since I took this photo I have pulled apart my card and added way more sequins – it was kind of lacking in sparkle!

Freshly Made Sketches #187

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch hostess is the fabulously talented Cindy Lovell – head over to her blog and check out her wonderful creations.

A quick and easy card that came together in no time! Believe it or not – my row of sequins is actually straight but I think the light they’ve picked up makes them look crooked.  I’ve stamped the splatters from Gorgeous Grunge in Gold Ink and in real life it’s actually quite sparkly. Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #262

Hey Everyone

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is a colour challenge.  Take a look at these great colours:

JAI262pic

I came up with something different than I normally do – I created a scene with a Stampin’ Up! stamp set that is new to me – Moon Lake.  To get the reflection of the boat in the water I stamped the boat image onto a window sheet and then pressed it down onto the cardstock. I created the water by sponging Pool Party ink onto the cardstock and the sky by dulling down the Pool Party ink on a piece of scrap first.  To get a bit of a sunset glow I sponged Calypso Coral lightly on the cardstock. I then used my blender pen to colour the tree and boat.  I used my white gel pen to draw in the little waves.  I love this sentiment from Butterfly Basics – I think it really finished off my card.

I love how the design team have created very different cards to inspire you.  Head over to Just Add Ink and check them out.
