Freshly Made Sketches#594

Hey Everyone

This weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches has been designed by me! I create a sketch at the last minute always with no idea what I stamp set or colours I’m going to use, but in the end it usually comes together.

My stamp set of choice was the Perched in a Tree Stamp Set. I used this set mainly because it was sitting on my desk from a card I’d made on the same day as this one. All of my recent cards were made a few weeks ago before my latest round of hand surgery.

This stamp set features a pudgy little bird, ink splatters and a bare branch tree. I’ve used all of these images on my card. I kept my mostly black and white so that my yellow and grey bird pops.

The three leaf diecuts I’ve added to my card are from the Aspen Dies that coordinate with the stamp set. To tie in with the colour scheme, I heat embossed a sentiment on Basic Black Cardstock.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have made my sketch look good with their gorgeous cards. Make sure you head over to Freshly Made Sketches and check out what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #593

Hey Everyone

Loving this weeks sketch by Karren Johnson over at Freshly Made Sketches. I knew exactly which stamp set and colours I was going to use as soon as I saw it!

The stamp set that features on my card is a new-to-me one called – Gone Fishing Stamp Set. I’ve also paired it with the Gone Fishing Dies. The pieces of coral I have cut are from the Beauty of the Deep Dies. I like how these can work with my fish and sinker/floaty images.

Here’s my masculine fishy card:

Just Add Ink #660

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge to play along with over at Just Add Ink. This week the challenge is to:

I’ve created a card with leaf inlays. The die set I’ve used for the leaves is called Aspen Dies. I used two of the dies to cut the die cuts out of my Basic White Cardstock. I then took a Blending Brushy and Balmy Blue Ink and added shading around the holes left from the dies. To add a little more interest to the cardstock, I flicked ink from a Dark Smoky Slate Blend over the shading.

I love a black and white DSP strip down the edge of cards. This DSP is from the Zoo Crew DSP pack. To this i added a thin strip of Crumb Cake Cardstock. Both of these were added to the decorated/diecut Cardstock. I then added dimensionals to this cardstock and adhered it to my card base. I then adhered the original leafy diecuts back in place but adhered them directly to the base card – while all the rest was raised.

I then sent about colouring this lil fatty bird with my Crumb Cake Blends. He is from the Perched in a Tree Stamp Set. The leaves I added behind him have been watercoloured on to Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper. I actually had these sitting from another project and instead of heaving them in the bin, I kept them for a project just like this one!

Make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and see what the team have created.

Just Add Ink #658

Hey Everyone

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is to:

I’m a keeper of scraps and strips, so this challenge was easy for me. It’s a great challenge to use up all of those strips that I cut off my cardstock. I tore an edge off all of the strips and adhered them down in a pattern of Basic White Cardstock and Smoky Slate Cardstock.

I then added some flowers from the Textured Floral Stamp Set that were stamped in a combination of Pool Party Ink and Basic Gray Ink.

I then cut lots of leafy diecuts from the Textured Floral Dies and added them under the flowers. A sentiment was added as well as three sequins.

Hey Everyone

Time for a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the uber talented and oh so lovely Jennifer Brum!

The card I created of course features flowers. I can’t help but want to reach for my flowery stamp sets.

I’ve stamped images from the Colour and Contour Stamp Set. I’ve used a combination of flowers images from this set and added a textured background.

The team have created wonderful cards using Jen’s sketch. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #590

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch hostess is the super talented Kim Singhahlsen.

Kim’s sketch had me thinking baby card for some reason. The stamp set I’ve used for my card is called Little Dreamers. These little images are the cutest and ready for colouring. I’ve coloured the images with a combination of Smoky Slate and Gray Granite Blends. The star the lion is holding has been coloured with my Pool Party Blends.

The background Basic White Cardstock has been stamped with the stars stamp and Pool Party Ink. This gives a little interest to the background.

For the strips of cardstock, I have used Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Pretty Peacock Cardstocks. The clouds have been cut out with the matching dies to the stamp set. These dies are called Little Dreamer Dies. The moon was also cut out with these dies.

The team have created awesome projects. Make sure you head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project#397

Hey Everyone

I was able to play along with the latest colour challenge at Global Design Project today. This week their challenge colours are:

How pretty are they colours together?

My stamp set of choice was the Pansy Patch Stamp Set. My pansies have been stamped in a combination of all three colours for both the large and small pansies.

I added some die cuts that I had sitting on my desk from the Textured Floral Dies. I had them left over from other projects and I liked the Basic White Cardstock foliage behind the pansies.

The background was shaded with Azure Afternoon Ink, an Artistic Mix Decorative Mask and a Blending Brush.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #656

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge over at Just Add Ink.This week is inspiration pic week. Take a look at the pic we have for you:

I was going to go with a sunset reflection type scene, but i couldn’t come up with anything that I liked, so I created a floral creation instead using the colours from the inspiration pic.

The pretty daisies I’ve used for my card are from the Cheerful Daisies Stamp Set. I’ve given them a quick colour with my blends.

The background was shaded and I then flicked ink over the shading.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #589

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means a new sketch challenge to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by Linda Callahan. Linda’s card are always perfect with the best images and matching sentiments. Even though I had Linda’s sketch in front of me, I kinda stuck the middle strip under the circle – but I figure it was close enough – and hope she forgives me….

The stamp set I’ve decorated my card with is called Beauty of the Deep Stamp Set. I’ve also used die cuts from the matching Beauty of the Deep Dies. I created a sort of port hole by using circle dies and small dots cut with one of my expired tag punches. This little circle is the hole that was cut out of the top of the tag. I added this blue strip of DSP from the Countryside Inn DSP pack because it felt a bit nautical to me with the stripes.

The team have created awesome cards with this weeks sketch. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #396

Hey Everyone

This weeks challenge at Global Design Project is a CASE The Designer Challenge. The challenge they have given us in to CASE Krista’s gorgeous card – take a look at her card:

I’ve had the Little Dreamers Stamp Set sitting unlinked for a couple of weeks. The matching dies were also sitting unused so I rectified this today with a CASE of Krista’s card. The clouds and moon dies in the Little Dreamers Dies were the starting point to my card as they were similar to her card.

The little elephant was stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with my Gray Granite Blends. It was then cut it out with the matching die.

The Basic Gray circle die cut has been given a little bit of interest with the 3 star stamp from the Little Dreamers Stamp Set.

Once I started layered, I felt my card needed a little more detail -because why not really? After searching through my stash, I found this tree die from the Rhino Ready Dies. This tree die was cut with Smoky Slate and Pretty Peacock Cardstocks.

Thanks for stopping by.
